Mrs. Stacey Binegar, Principal

Welcome to CIS!  It is a well-known fact that people are happiest in their life when their work is something that they truly love!  I can honestly say that there is no other place I’d rather be than side by side with people who share my passion for education!  As the principal of Cantrall Intermediate School, I commit to doing everything in my power to provide an atmosphere and experience that promotes a challenging, yet successful opportunity for every child.  I became an administrator in order to affect and impact the “system” of education.  With that, I feel a great sense of obligation to do my part.  I am thrilled to be at CIS!

The 2014-15 school year is my 14th year as a principal; however, my first year at CIS.  It is also my 20th year in education.  Prior to my service as a principal, I was privileged to work at the Illinois State Board of Education, coordinating services and support for K-12 schools and districts that were on the Academic Early Warning/Watch Lists.  Most importantly, I began my educational career in the classroom; the most secure, comforting, engaging and challenging place for so many kids!

I am originally from Springfield.  After completing high school, I attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  I continued school at the University of Illinois, receiving my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.  In addition, I have begun work on my Doctorate Degree in Education, specializing in Organizational Leadership.

What I love most about my job is that it is different and exciting every day!  Students will surprise you, impress you, challenge you, make you laugh, make you cry, tell you the truth, show their innocence, and much, much, more.  If we let them, they can make us better people by the lessons they teach.  It is my goal to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community members and to facilitate a positive, successful experience for everyone at CIS.  My door is always open.

Do I have lofty goals for excellence?  Absolutely!  But, working together, we can challenge, support and see the outstanding potential and gifts of EVERY student.  Won’t you join me on the journey?  I can’t wait to meet you!

I wish you a successful 2014-2015 school year!
