Athens Families:

March 31st Update:

***Please Read the attached newsletter (Newsletter 27)  below in regards to continued home learning and 3rd quarter report cards. Also attached is information from our District office in regards to chromebook rental/loan during our Remote Learning days.

"On March 20, 2020, Governor Pritzker issued a “Stay at Home Order” through at least April 7, 2020.  Unfortunately, we anticipate that this will be further extended.  During this time, we will continue to provide learning activities to our students.  Illinois State Board of Education has stated to Districts that schools may allow student work to count during the closure ONLY to increase a student’s academic standing.  Therefore, any student work completed will be used to raise a student’s grade.  If you have any questions regarding specifics, please contact your child’s teacher or principal.

In regards to food service, during the “Stay at Home Order”, lunch service will continue to be provided for all children age 18 or younger.  However, we do have a change in procedure.  Pick up location will only be at the Athens High School parking lot.  In addition, lunches will be available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  On Monday, each child will receive two lunches, on Wednesday each child will receive two lunches and on Friday each child will receive one lunch.  This should help reduce exposure for everyone.  Lunch pick up time will remain from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.  If you have any questions, please email Lisa Long at"

Per Illinois State Board of Education, “All children age 18 or younger may receive a free meal during school closure.”    If you have not received a call from the school already, and you are interested in participating, please contact the District Office at (217) 636-8761 or email Lisa Long at LLONG@ATHENS-213.ORG.   Please specify number of lunches needed and which of the four locations desired for pickup.

 Locations include:

1.       Athens High School parking lot

Pick up time at all locations is 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

CES will be sending out further information and instructions on 3/16 through Skyward Messenger.

Classroom teachers will also be sending out information to students early in the week.
